DAYDREAMER

A place for the wandering mind — a kinetic reclining sculpture.

The continuous curve
“Everything in life is a matter of balance.
Daydreamer makes that visible.”

Daydreamer rests on a continuous curve, with no fixed point of contact with the ground. Its equilibrium shifts as the sitter’s center of gravity shifts — a reciprocal conversation between body and form.

This is not passive seating. It is a calibrated instrument tuned to the physics of repose. Lean forward and the world returns. Lean back and it recedes. The body discovers its own still point.

In that still point, the mind is free to wander.

Permission

Permission is rarely granted to the wandering mind.

Schedules, outputs, notifications — these fill the margins where thought once drifted. Stillness has become something to optimize rather than inhabit.

Daydreamer does not manufacture relaxation or promise clarity. It simply removes the friction. By engaging the body in the quiet negotiation of balance, it frees the mind from the obligation to direct itself anywhere at all.

To sit in it is to be given back something that was never lost — only neglected.

Laminated birch ribs
Edition I

Constructed from laminated birch layers cut to precise tolerances, Daydreamer emerges through the cumulative logic of repetition. Each profile is derived from a shared geometry, allowing the components to nest within the sheet from which they are cut — constraint shaping expression.

No frame. No fasteners exposed to view. No padding placed over what should be revealed. The material intelligence of the piece is its surface.

Its curve follows the natural arc of the spine. Comfort emerges not from softness, but from alignment.

Light enough to move with one hand. Heavy enough to feel permanent.

A Daydreamer calibrated
to its owner’s equilibrium.

Each body holds its balance differently. Through computational modeling, the geometry of Daydreamer can be rederived so that equilibrium occurs precisely where its owner does.

Not decorative customization, but calibration — proportion and curvature determined before the first cut is made.

Bespoke commissions are offered by consultation. Material, finish, and proportion are developed in concert to create an object that belongs to its owner in every sense.
